Camp Discovery

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Discovery Center will be offering a limited summer camp. A maximum of 30 students, ages 8-11 will be permitted into our facility to comply with CDC reccommended social distancing. Camp will be all in house with students participating in instructor led experiments, activities and outdoor time. There will not be any field trips or guest speakers. Students and staff will be expected to social distance, wear masks, and adhere to hygiene guidelines. Campers will need to bring lunch, snacks and water. Lunches may not be refrigerated or require use of an oven or microwave. Temperature checks and health screens will be performed daily prior to admittance into the facility. We apologize, but parents will not be permitted into the facility. 

Camp Costs

Camp ages 8-11 $85 / week
Camp ages 8-11 (Member Rate) $75 / week


 Camp Day starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.

Drop off is between 7:30-8:00 

pick up is between 5:00-5:30. 

No early/late drop offs or pick ups

Temperature checks will be performed on campers each morning prior to entering the building. Only campers and staff will be permitted entrance into Discovery Center.  Anyone exhibiting signs of respiratory illness will be asked to stay home and reschedule their camp week for when they are well. Camp and staff will be expected to wear masks and social distance while inside the facility. Strict sanitation and hygiene guidelines will be followed.

Summer Camp Weeks and Themes

Camp will begin with the week two theme and proceed through the week of July 27-31.  Registration will open two weeks prior to each camp week. Registration for multiple weeks at once will not take place this year so that staff may monitor the situation and adjust if needed.

June 1st – June 5th

Theme: Marine Biology

Dive deep into marine biology as we learn about ocean life and ecosystems, deep sea exploration, conservation, and more!

Week 2
June 8th – June 12th

Theme: Myths and Magic

Get ready to debunk some myths and discover the science behind some of our famous mythological tales.

Week 3
June 15th – June 19th

Theme: Survivor

Learn to walk on the wild side as you practice survival basics: knots, tracks, shelter, food, and much more. Bring your sense of adventure to overcome survival challenges as a team!

Week 4
June 22nd – June 26th

Theme: Air and Space

Three, two, one, LIFT OFF! Join us this week as we explore the science of flight in its many forms, man-made and in nature. From airplanes to rockets to birds, let’s soar!

Theme: Arts & Science

Science and art combine as you experiment with different artistic techniques, materials, and styles!

Week 6
July 6th-10th

Theme: Energy

Spark your curiosity as we examine energy in its many forms. From circuits to gravity, we will shed light on the many mysteries of energy!

July 13th -17th

Theme: Awesome Animals

With the dog days of summer just around the corner there’s no better time to learn all about animals! From pets to wildlife, we will introduce you to animal care, wildlife biology techniques, and more.

Week 8
July 20th – July 24th

Theme: Engineering

Get ready, get set, BUILD! Tinker with toys to problem solve our hands on engineering challenges.

Week 9
July 27th – July 31st

Theme: Archaeology & Geology

Dig up the past as we explore the connections between archaeology and geology. You will dig for fossils, learn about Florida’s unique geological features, and uncover the stories that ancient artifacts can tell us!

Week 10
August 3rd – August 7th

Theme: Exhibit Design

Learn first hand from our staff what it takes to design an exhibit and create your own exhibit concept. The winning concept might become a future Discovery Center exhibit!
